Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of vegetables (you can use carrots, cauliflower, broccoli or even spinach)
  • Water to boil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Some growing-up milk to thicken into desired consistency
  • Optional: a pinch of salt for taste

Stove or oven method:

Put the vegetables in just enough water to cover them and simmer until they are really tender. Don't drain the water, it will become part of the soup.

After they vegetables are cooked, use a potato masher to mash the vegetables until there are no large lumps.

Add 1 tbsp of butter and 2 tbsp of flour and stir well. Bring to a boil and slowly add milk until it thickens and reaches the desired consistency.

You shouldn't add much seasoning to baby's food, but a tiny bit of sea salt to add flavour is okay

Tips:

This tasty cream of vegetable soup is a great way to introduce vegetables like broccoli and carrots to your child. Frozen vegetables are just as nutritious and convenient to store.
