Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

"Wholegrain breakfast cereals are a good source of fibre, which can make your child feel fuller for longer. Though cornflakes has low sugar and sodium levels, but it is made from corn that is starchy and high in fat content which diminishes its nutritive values. If you choose to give cornflakes always choose plain cornflakes instead of flavoured ones, as too much sugar in a child’s diet makes the child overweight. Some breakfast cereals highlight the inclusion of bran, fiber, vitamins and other ingredients that make it a healthy option but it is important to look at the food label carefully to avoid, added sugars, added flavors & food colors. Wheat flakes are nutritionally better in terms of its protein, fiber and iron content and have a higher overall nutritive value which makes it more wholesome and favorable over cornflakes. Similarly , Muesli is packed with the goodness of oats, wheat flakes nuts and also raisins. Best option is to introduce Oats which are highest in its protein content in comparison to the other breakfast cereals, like cornflakes and wheat flakes. It is also high in soluble as well as insoluble fiber."

"Yes i think it's good snacks for them, at least when I compare it to biscuits or sweets. As long as the cornflakes can be easily chewed and won't cause the child to choke. Some brands of cornflakes are harder than the others though, so you have to watch out. I find the brand Post, although good coz it has more fibres, to be harder than Nestle, Kellogs or 365 brands."

"it is ok to give cornflakes, but make sure its those plain ones, as there are some cornflakes with added sugar which is not good for young children. If really need to give those with added sugar, then don't give them everyday, perhaps once a week."
