Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

Is It Safe For Toddlers To Take Glucolin?

"During diarhoea, make sure your child drinks plenty of fluids to ease her symptoms and to stop her dehydrating. You may use oral rehydration solution like Pedialyte or Hydralyte available at various pharmacies. These solutions are best served cold and may even be frozen to 'ice sticks'. You can make ORS at home too- make with 6 level teaspoons of sugar and 1/2 level teaspoon of salt dissolved in 1 litre of clean water. Give sips of oral rehydration solution (ORS) a few times a day instead of Glucolin as unabsorbed sugar draws water into the intestine and can make diarrhoea worse. Alternatively, you may use rice water or barley water. Keep giving her water and her usual feeds too. Don’t give her fruit juices and fizzy drinks. Keep giving your child table foods while he has diarrhea. The choice of food is important. Probiotics contain good bacteria that help to alleviate diarrhea. Give foods containing probiotics such as yogurt and cheese. Starchy foods are digested best. Examples of such foods are dried cereals, grains, bread, crackers, rice, pasta, and mashed potatoes. Pretzels or salty crackers can help meet your child's need for sodium. Soft-boiled eggs are easily digested and provide some protein. You may contact your doctor and give soy milk instead of normal milk when the kid suffers from diarrhea."

"You can make our low sugar "isotonic" drink at home. Ingredients 1 litre of plain water, few slices of lemon, 2-3 tablespoon of sugar or glucose, can mixed in 1:1 proportion 1 teaspoon of table salt or Himalayan salt Those ingredients can be mixed well in a blender bottle. This home remedy is good for kids who suffers from diarrhea and asthma. Remember to feed your child with one tablespoon every hour and not the whole bottle if he or she is having diarrhea. I noticed some fortified glucose like Glucolin also supplies some electrolytes like Phosporous and Potassium. Besides, you can enhance the ORS electrolytes with other minerals by adding Himalayan salt instead of table salt."

"I feel for a toddler it had better not feed him or her glucolin due to absorb. It will be a better way to eat some other food which toddler likes and is appetizing. If nothing can help, please consult doctor ahead."

"Glucolin is safe as a rehydrating fluid. However during acute gastroenteritis, the body loses salt like sodium and potassium, thus it would be important to replace them too. Oral rehydration salts formulated for children are hence more complete. The advice is kept general and not a substitute for a consultation. Kindly consult your doctor or pediatrician as a detailed history and examination is important to come to a diagnosis and treatment plan."
