Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. You are close to giving birth to a wonderful baby! This couple of weeks, your baby measures around 50 cm long and weights around 6 lbs. At this stage, intensify your bonding by talking or singing to your baby.
You might be finding it increasingly difficult to get proper sleep during late pregnancy, especially at night, so getting the maximum amount of rest during the day time, with your feet up, can compensate a little.
Although your weight gain has almost come to an end, you may be feeling worried or scared in other ways as you feel increasingly apprehensive about labour. Go over your birth plan to make sure it’s clear in your head and talk to your birth partner about it too.
As this can be a confusing time for any other young children in your family, involve them in the excitement to help manage their natural feelings of jealousy.
