Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

"It may be an old wive's tale, but it is advised to drink fresh coconut water in the last month of pregnancy supposedly to help with the baby's complexion - some say for a "clean" and smooth complexion, whilst others say for fairer skin. Coconut water is especially rich in nutrients. Here are some of the benefits of having coconut water during pregnancy: * Coconut water is fat free and has zero cholesterol. It also increases the level of the HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) that is present in the body during pregnancy. * During pregnancy, a woman may experience exhaustion and dehydration, which can be easily replenished by coconut water which is a rich source of electrolytes. *Coconut water strengthens immune system as it has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. * Constipation, sluggish digestion and heartburn are common problems during pregnancy and can be helped to some extent by drinking coconut water as it also improves intestinal function and promotes digestive health. * A lot of women suffer from urinary tract infection during pregnancy, which can be prevented by consuming coconut water, which is a natural diuretic. With such wide ranging nutritional benefits it is no wonder that coconut water is recommended for pregnant women. Fair complexion and smooth skin is genetic, mums enjoy drinking coconut water simply because it tastes nice and refreshing."

"From what I heard, it's not from the on start of the 3rd trimester. It's only when you are around 35weeks then u can start to drink. It's not so that the baby will have smooth skin(all babies have smooth skin no matter what), it's that your baby will come out cleaner when you deliver. Anyway, I drank for my 1st pregnancy & I also don't know if my baby is cleaner but I sure enjoy the refreshing & cold coconut water during my 3rd tri esp when i'm feeling so hot!!"

"It is healthy to have young coconut water from 3rd trimester .It is a natuural isotonic beverage , one of the richest sources of electrolytes. IT is essentially fat free and has zero cholesterol. Coconut water is a natural diuretic so it increases the flow of urine; this helps prevent urinary tract infections(UTI).It also helps relieve constipation, sluggish digestion & heartburn.Bady skin will be smoother if its a full term baby but natural , Babies born before would hv a little dry skin but it wearoff with massage & as the baby grows."

"Drinking coconut juice during the last few weeks of the third trimester is beneficial to the mother and foetus. The many benefits include: it's a drink that prevents dehydration and exhaustion; it has zero cholesterol; it strengthens immunity; it prevents and treats heartburn; prevents UTI as it's a natural diuretic; it allows easy digestion. Whether or not the baby comes out clean, I'm not sure if it's been proven. If in doubt, it's advisable to seek gynae's advice. But I can't help but think of having it now when the weather is terribly hot and humid!"
