Breastfeeding is the best for babies and a healthy diet / maternal nutrition is important when breastfeeding. A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. It is recommended that all formula milks be used on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care and the financial implications should be considered. All preparation and feeding instructions should be followed carefully as inappropriate preparation could lead to health hazards.

How Long Does Formula Milk Last?

Bacteria can multiply when prepared milk is left to be exposed to air. Hence, it is recommended to prepare the milk as when it is required and discard the unfinished milk to prevent babies being put to risk of food poisoning. You may prepare just the quantity that baby needs, so that there is little wastage. Milk content should be stored in a cool, dry place before and after opening to ensure freshness. Do close the lid tightly after each use to avoid milk powder from hardening. Once tin is opened, it is advisable to consume the formula milk within 3 weeks to ensure freshness and minimize oxidation which will result in loss of some vitamins and fatty acids.

Once the milk has been prepared, it is always recommended to discard any unfinished portion. If baby cannot finish the milk, u can put the bottle in the warmer and give it to baby later (all w/in an hr). This is to prevent any further contaminations.

Yes agree, it is not recommended to give baby the milk again if it has been left for too long at room temperature. Bacteria can grow very fast, esp in room temperature and if you give it to baby, problems might occur. Based on baby's feeding, you should roughly know know much milk to prepare, so use that as a guage. But if its left for a few 10-15mins when its still warm, should be alright.

Best is to discard all unfinished milk once prepared.. But if u want to reuse, do it within an hour or less. To prevent bacteria forming.
